NZ wins the ODI-series beating Bangladesh by 3 wickets thumbnail

The host New Zealand won three matches ODI-series by 3-0, beating Bangladesh by three wickets in the third and final match at Christchurch on Thursday.

The blackcaps reached their target in 44.5 overs with three wickets remaining in hand.

James Franklin 19 (24) and Ian Butler 13 (21) were unbeaten on the crease. Martin Guptill hit the highest runs of 91 (91) before caught by Tamim Iqbal.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan grabbed four wickets while Rubel Hossain, Naeem Islam and Mahmudullah took one each.

Earlier, Bangladesh ended their innings at 241/9 after getting invitation from New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori to bat first.

Opener Imrul Kayes smashed a maiden ODI century of 101 (138) in the innings.

Daniel Vettori and Tim Southee grabbed three wickets each while Jacob Oram and Andy McKay took one each.

Earlier, New Zealand lead the series by 2-0, beating Bangladesh by 146 runs in first match on February 5 and five wickets on February 8.

The visiting Bangladesh will play the only test match against host schedule for February 15 at Hamilton.
