Bangladesh claimed just their second ever Test victory with a 95-run win over a makeshift West Indies side in the first Test on Monday.
However, the celebrations were guarded as West Indies were forced to field seven debutants in a hastily-assembled squad after a boycott by leading players due to contractual and payment issues.
The only previous win for Bangladesh, granted Test status in 2000, had come against the visiting Zimbabwe in 2005.
Former skipper Habibul Bashar, who led Bangladesh to their previous win, showered the team with praise.
‘It was long overdue for us,’ he said. ‘I have seen the players working very hard to be successful in Test cricket and they deserved it.’
